"I briefly attended the BJS in 2014. Though my time there was fairly brief, I gained much from Wayne's teaching style, one which allows people to express individuality and approach the music organically. As well as finding their feet within a group setting, and one which tried to maintain emphasis on the tradition of the music and the people who created it. He is passionate and able to listen to individuals and expects people to take responsibility as musicians. Since leaving the BJS I have been in London where I am involved in a collective of young multi-instrumentalists, MCs and poets, as well as starting to explore a couple of other musical projects/collaborations. I will continue exploring jazz by learning standards on my instrument and taking the organic musical approach necessary to play this improvisation focused art form to other musical creative projects I will be involved in"

Katie Rogers

Profession : Vocalist
E-mail : scatkat89@gmail.com
Website : www.jazzcocktails.co.uk and https://soundcloud.com/jazzkat89

Having been singing since she was six, Katie has always had a passion for music and song. Upon discovering the beauty of the blues, Billie Holiday and the swing of Frank and Ella in university,  Katie began her journey of exploring jazz. Brighton jazz school, presented a wide range of opportunities to both perform, work with like minded musicians and most of all develop already existing skills and learn new techniques. Since graduating from BJS, Katie has been singing both publicly and privately. She is currently available for events and gigs. Mixing a shot of swing and brass, mixed with a hint of latin. Served over some chilled blues notes and served with a slice of funky soul.

Amanda Allen

Profession : Vocalist
E-mail : amandajazzallen@gmail.com
Phone : 07989060452
Website : https://soundcloud.com/amandas-jazz

At the behest of her sax teacher, Amanda and her voice left her hometown of Reading in 2011 in search of better musicians. She headed south to the sea and discovered Brighton Jazz School whose welcoming and supportive environment has helped her develop and grow as a jazz vocalist. Through the school she has worked with many musicians, sat in at intimate jam sessions and performed to large outdoor audiences including at Love Supreme Festival. Amanda is currently doing more of the same, while also singing with a three-part harmony group and developing her scat skills at the school.
